A number of high-profile Democrats spoke out during the Brett Kavanaugh Supreme Court confirmation hearings in 2018. In true partisan, ideological fashion, they all marched in lockstep and stood by Christine Blasey-Ford. They said they believed her and maintained that she – and ALL women – should be believed because “women just don’t sit around and make this stuff up.” They said that Kavanaugh was guilty simply because he is a man and we were told that “men just need to shut up and step up and do the right thing.”
All of the Democrats apparently got the same memo because each said essentially the same thing, almost verbatim. They insisted that the hearings were not a legal proceeding, not a court case and so no “due process,” no “presumption of innocence” should be afforded Brett Kavanaugh since he was merely “applying for a job” and the confirmation hearings were essentially “a job interview.” Even Joe Biden told the women of “The View” that the Kavanaugh hearings were “a job interview” and “there is no presumption of innocence or guilt.” Fine.
Less than two years later, these very same Democrats no longer feel that “all women are to be believed.” They are dismissing Tara Reade’s allegations, standing by due process and standing by their man, Joe Biden.
Even Hillary Clinton, Harvey Weinstein’s friend who said: “Any woman who reports an assault should be heard and believed. We’re with you” and who made the issue one of the pillars of her campaign has now endorsed Joe Biden, saying that they “share the same values.” Yes, they do. Yes, they do.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi had no sooner endorsed Joe Biden as “the personification of hope and courage, values, authenticity and integrity,” when she was questioned about the sexual assault allegations against him. Pelosi said she didn’t need “any lectures or speeches” and took serious umbrage at the question:
“I have a complete respect for the whole ‘MeToo’ movement…….and there’s a lot of excitement around the idea that women will be heard and be able to be listened to. There is also due process and the fact that Joe Biden is Joe Biden.”
As Shakespeare said, “The lady doth protest too much, methinks.”
Since it is Joe Biden – rather than Brett Kavanaugh – who is under the heat lamps, Speaker Pelosi is suddenly – once again – concerned about the presumption of innocence and due process and – once again – the other Democrats are marching in lockstep. In fact, Pelosi doesn’t even try to hide her hypocrisy, bias and partisanship, stating unequivocally that because “Joe Biden is Joe Biden,” the same rules that applied to Kavanaugh do not apply to him. Brett Kavanaugh is not entitled to due process, but Joe Biden is.
But wait. Isn’t Joe Biden also “applying for a job,” president of the United States”? Isn’t the entire campaign, primary and nomination process tantamount to a “job interview”? Just as the Supreme Court Nomination Hearings are not a legal proceeding, so too are the campaign, primary and nomination process not a legal proceeding and therefore, Joe Biden – just like Brett Kavanaugh – should not be entitled to the presumption of innocence nor due process. Or, am I missing something? Oh, yeah. “Joe Biden is Joe Biden.” He gets due process, regardless.
On Sunday, Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez balked at the idea and stood by the DNC’s decision not to form an investigative panel into the sexual assault allegations against Joe Biden, as had been suggested by the New York Times. Perez said: “If Barack Obama had any indication that there was an issue, Barack Obama would not have had him as his vice president. Barack Obama trusted Joe Biden. I trust Joe Biden. And those investigations have been done.”
But wait. Wasn’t Brett Kavanaugh investigated (vetted) before becoming a federal judge, long before being nominated to the Supreme Court? To use Perez’s words, “if there was any indication that there was an issue,” they would not have had him as a federal judge. Ah, but Brett Kavanaugh isn’t Joe Biden. And, after all, “Joe Biden is Joe Biden.”
To be fair, several Democrats have come out in favor of an independent investigation into the allegations.
Two of the most prominent faces in the MeToo era are mother/daughter attorneys Gloria Allred and Lisa Bloom. They stand with all women and believe all women, except when they don’t. Allred, to paraphrase Will Rogers, is a woman who never met a man she liked. She is infamous for trying to destroy men who do not share her political ideology. You’ll recall how she tried to bring down a squeaky-clean Herman Cain in 2012 (how dare a black man be a Republican) with a bevy of beauties who suddenly leveled accusations against Cain as he was winning in the polls and who just-as-suddenly disappeared and went silent (as is ALWAYS the case) once Cain dropped out of the race to spare his wife and family the pain.
Meanwhile, “champion for women” Attorney Lisa Bloom – Allred’s daughter – defended convicted rapist Harvey Weinstein and now stands with Joe Biden. Read what Bloom tweeted recently about Tara Reade, Joe Biden’s accuser:
“I believe you, Tara Reade. You have people who remember you told them about this decades ago. We know he (Biden) is “handsy.” You’re not asking for $. You’ve obviously struggled mightily with this. I still have to fight Trump, so I will still support Joe. But I believe you. And I’m sorry.”
Tara Reade alleges that Joe Biden held her up against a wall, lifted up her skirt and penetrated her with his finger. Lisa Bloom calls that “handsy.” Bloom believes Reade but will still vote for Biden.
I’ll remind you that Tara Reade’s former neighbor, Lynda LaCasse, started making news recently when she said she recalled Reade telling her the Biden story years ago. LaCasse also believes Reade, but says that she also believes that Biden is a “good guy” and that she has no choice but to vote for him, rather than Donald Trump. LaCasse stated: “I personally am a Democrat, a very strong Democrat. And I’m for Biden, regardless.”
If you truly believe the MeToo Movement is about believing, standing with, protecting and defending women or that the Movement has anything at all to do with women, you are sadly mistaken and ignorant, at best and you are naïve and a damned fool, at worst. The MeToo Movement is simply about destroying Republicans. Period. Unfortunately, for those leading MeToo, nearly every man – and at least one woman – who have been caught up in the Movement and been taken down is a person of the left from Hollywood, Washington or the news media.
