I’ve posted this quote many, many times. It’s from Barack Obama’s first chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel. It has become the Democrats’ First Commandment.
“You never let a serious crisis go to waste. And what I mean by that it’s an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.”
In that context, consider what Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-SC) told caucus members just days ago. He said that the Coronavirus Relief Bill was “a tremendous opportunity to restructure things to fit our vision.”
There it is. Clyburn does not want to let this serious crisis go to waste. He sees the suffering, the panic and the desperation of Americans as an opportunity to do things he thought that he and the Democrats could not do before. That is, force their agenda on the American People, or as Barack Obama promised to do, “fundamentally-transform the United States of America.”
The government is never more dangerous than during a time of crisis, particularly one of this magnitude. Americans are simply desperate for someone to make this stop and they are willing to do anything to that end. In their desperation, they are much more willing to give up their civil liberties and their power and to turn them over to the government. Those with selfish, self-serving evil intent are happy to take back the power that the People are so willing to give back to them because that new power enables them to – as Rahm Emanuel said – “do things you think you couldn’t do before.”
We’re doing as we’re told. We don’t even leave our homes because we were told not to do so. We buy only one roll of toilet paper because we’ve been told that’s all we’re allowed. To stop the spread of the Chinese Coronavirus, cities are emptying prisons and releasing inmates onto the streets, making us more unsafe, even as Democrats seek to take away our Second Amendment Rights and our ability to protect ourselves. The government has forced us to close our businesses even as police in some cities have been told not to arrest non-violent criminals, including those who would loot those shuttered businesses. If you open your restaurant, you are breaking the law, but if you loot a closed restaurant, the police will look the other way.
Politicians like James Clyburn……and there are many like him…….are very dangerous, the biggest threat to America as we know it. Several weeks ago, Clyburn appeared on national television and said that President Trump’s claim that we have the lowest black unemployment rate in history is simply not true.
To back up his assertion, Clyburn told Fox News viewers that “we had full employment during slavery.” This black man who sits atop the highest levels of power in this country, who has called for reparations, actually tried to make the case that African-Americans had it better during slavery than they do under Donald Trump. Just days after Clyburn made this asinine statement, he endorsed Joe Biden and encouraged black South Carolinians to vote for him. They did. Biden won the primary. Black voters actually took the advice of a man who had just told them they had better lives under slavery than they do under Donald Trump. Breathtaking……and telling.
As I write this, the Democrats have left Americans to further suffer as they’ve now twice blocked a relief bill until such time as they can insert their pork, their radical- progressive, leftist, transformational items into it. Let’s examine the Democrat version of the Chinese Coronavirus Relief Bill in the context of James Clyburn’s quote, bearing in mind that Clyburn is not alone in his thinking. He said that the bill is “a tremendous opportunity to restructure things to fit our vision.”
The 1119-page Nancy Pelosi Democrat bill, a bill about which she told us yesterday she is once again “prayerful,” is a Christmas wish list for the liberal progressives and socialists who make up today’s Democrat Party as well as special interest groups. None of the things they’ve tried to include in the bill has anything to do with the Chinese Coronavirus but is simply there to – as Clyburn said – “restructure things to fit our vision.”
The Democrat bill includes things like racial and gender pay equity provisions, diversity on corporate boards, increased use of minority-owned banks by federal offices, and other diversity-themed requirements. It increases the collective bargaining power for unions and cancels all the debt owed by the U.S. Postal Service to the U.S. Treasury.
For the “Green New Deal” and “Climate Change” crowd there are increased fuel emission standards and requirements for airlines to reduce their “carbon footprint” as well as tax credits for alternative energy programs like windmills and those hideous solar panels you see on homes everywhere, panels that YOU already pay for.
For the Bernie Sanders kids who want “free” everything, there is a provision for student loan payment deferment as well as a $9.5 billion giveaway to colleges and universities so that they have the money needed to inculcate millions more of our youth and turn them into little socialists and permanent Democrat voters. The Democrat bill gives $100 million to juvenile justice programs, and suspends various aspects of enforcement of immigration laws to make AOC and the ICE-haters happy.
But, perhaps the most insidious sections of the bill fall under the heading ‘‘American Coronavirus/COVID–19 Election Safety and Security” or ‘‘ACCESS” Act. These sections would impose requirements on states for early voting, voting by mail, required mailing of absentee ballots to everyone, ballot harvesting (i.e., having third parties deliver absentee ballots), online voter registration, same-day registration and other practices which undermine confidence in the integrity of our voting process at a time when there are increasing threats to the security of our elections, as Democrats never cease to remind us.
Bear in mind, these are merely the items that we know of. As Nancy Pelosi is wont to say, “We have to pass the bill in order to find out what’s in it.”
During a time of panic and desperation, during a time when you are willing to do anything, to accept anything, to give up anything just to see the crisis ended, remember that everything you do, accept or give up will now become the new norm. At some point, this crisis will end but you will never get back what you have so willingly handed over to the government.
Read James Clyburn’s quote one last time, then consider it as you read several quotes by our Founding Fathers.
Clyburn said that the suffering of millions of Americans, that the Chinese Coronavirus crisis and the pending Relief Bill is “a tremendous opportunity to restructure things to fit our vision.”
From our Founders:
“As the government increases, the People decrease.”
“A government big enough to give you everything you want, is a government big enough to take away everything you have.”
“Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”
